Four Lessons from Minnesota Can Inform the Eviction Crisis Debate
Housing Matters, an initiative of the Urban Institute, featured four lessons from Family Housing Fund’s eviction prevention work at the Ramsey County Housing Court:
- A specialty housing court enables more effective problem solving.
- Access to a combination of financial assistance, lawyers, and mediators at the courthouse can resolve many cases quickly.
- Collaboration or flexibility among emergency funding resources can fill gaps to stabilize tenants and resolve the crisis.
- Streamlined processes can increase expungements.
