Case Study: Active Living Hennepin Communities

Dec 2015

Active Living Hennepin Communities is a partnership of cities, businesses, state and local agencies and the county. All partners work together to increase residents’ opportunities for active living. This is done through policy changes, community involvement and other planning changes.

Hennepin County’s active living resolution was approved in October 2007. The resolution formally states Hennepin County’s active living vision. It lays down a foundation for the development and implementation of related policies. The complementary Active Living Policies and Complete Streets Policies were adopted in June and July of 2009.

Both Dakota County and Ramsey County are supporting active living policies through their own collaborative efforts. All groups are committed to making it safe and convenient for people to be more physically active and make healthier choices.
