Artist's Statement I've been
exploring, through my art, the concepts of home and
sanctuary for several years, beginning when I became
pregnant and "housed" my growing baby. Through printmaking
and painting, I attempt to convey the psychological
effects of families living together in their homes.
In Three Keys, I've used twigs, a natural nest-building
material, sewn to the canvas to represent the bonds
we create by living together. I regard the human body
as the home of our essence, or soul. My work in various
media reveals how relationships in the community are
in a constant process of construction and reconstruction.
The windows are thresholds for change and potential,
from inside out and outside in.
